Real-Time “Look Ahead” from PMC Software Inc.
PMC Software Inc. reports significant material savings and reduced production times for its customers using PMC’s powerful software tool, “Look Ahead”, with modules available to enhance both glass and lineal optimization systems, and now available as a real-time function.
Customers report 5% to 8% savings for glass and 4% to 9% savings for lineals. One customer reported an average savings of 3 sheets of glass and a 6% increase in yield daily for just one particular glass composition. With lineal “Look Ahead”, a daily savings of 14 sticks of lineal material and a 4% increase in yield has been reported for just one lineal profile. In addition to significant material savings, “Look Ahead” also reduces production times.
The real-time functionality of “Look Ahead” for glass allows schedules to continue to be “Bridged In” in the office where they are exploded into Runs of unique glass color and thickness. However, the optimization takes place at the cutting table(s), based upon actual in-plant production needs.
