How BOXMATE™ Works
BOXMATE's Schedule Maintenance task provides the capability of creating a new boxing schedule, modifying an existing schedule (e.g. adding boxes, removing boxes, altering the contents of a box, etc.), removing obsolete or unneeded schedules or displaying the contents of a particular schedule. The creation of schedules can either be done manually or automatically. The automatic process takes into account your customer's specific boxing requirements, such as by floor or mark.
If Automatic Boxing Scheduling is selected, you begin by entering the order to include in the schedule as well as Sold To, Ship To, and information on packing materials to be used. Once this information is entered, you may make any necessary changes to the boxing parameters, such as maximum box weight, dimensions, and so forth. Automatic Boxing will then commence, displaying box information as the boxes are filled.
Once the boxing schedules have been created, you may choose to display the Schedule Summary, an on-screen listing of summary information about the schedule and detail information about the boxes within the schedule.
The Boxing Label is used by Automatic Boxing to separate the pieces of glass using a particular mark, usually specified by the customer. For example, if a customer wishes certain items for the first floor boxed separately from the second floor, you can enter this information on the boxing label. Automatic Boxing will then only place pieces with the same boxing label in the same box. You may also use only a portion of the boxing label, specifying the starting position and number of characters of the boxing label field to use.
Manual Boxing Maintenance permits manual creation of boxing schedules, allowing flexibility in the boxing of glass. You have complete control over which items are placed in a box as well as the quantity of that item to be boxed, and may adjust the positioning of items in a box or move items to another box in the schedule. Boxes may be created containing multiple rows and stacks of glass, as needed. These features are maintained by use of the buttons at the top of the screen and the Unboxed Items portion of the screen, directly below.
Manual Boxing Maintenance calculates the dimensions of the box based on the items placed in the box, packing materials used, and number of rows and stacks. Available space in a box is listed after each item is boxed. You may override the system and box an item that exceeds the maximum dimensions for the box. Existing boxes may be reused and the BOXMATE™ system assists you in finding items that will fit in the box. These features are maintained in the Box portion of the screen.
