How GRIDMATE™ Works

Formula Based Breakdown Configurator

GRIDMATE™ uses an extremely flexible, formula-based breakdown configurator, which allows users to define the formulas needed to build grids and provide notching locations for any style window system.  Starting with frame, sash, glass size or a combination of these dimensions, the breakdown formulas can also include considerations for vertical and/or horizontal offset requirements, spacer insets, and muntin widths.  The system allows notch locations to be computed incrementally from the start of a stick or last notch or calculated using absolute coordinates from the start of the stick.

Inventory Module

GRIDMATE’s inventory module simplifies the initial definition of your available grid stock so that it can be quickly referenced by the breakdown configurator.  It is only necessary to maintain one set of breakdown formulas, even if multiple colors of stock are used in your operations.  A simple to use cross reference color table, by grid style, simplifies operations.

Test Module

A test module allows personnel to validate grid configurations before the designs are released to the floor for production.  This helps insure smooth, uninterrupted operations in the plant and increases operator’s acceptance of the new computerized process.

Bridge File

GRIDMATE™ accepts an ASCII bridge file of grid requirements from your business system to eliminate the need for manual data entry.  As an alternative, the entry of grid requirements can be done manually via an entry screen that captures opening dimensions, grid style, and color options.

GRIDMATE™ Reports

GRIDMATE’s Production Reports provide a simple diagram of each grid layout, as well as schedule, rack and slot information for the lites, part requirements, cut lengths, and notching locations.  This information can be printed for batch grid production, working backwards in your production sequence to accommodate stacking/racking requirements, or for in-line fabrication, matching your unit production sequence.

Optional GRIDMATE™ Interfaces

Optional interface packages make it possible for PMC Software Inc. to develop files for automated grid machines which will take your grid production to an even higher level.  We are be happy to discuss your plant’s individual needs.

We see the following business benefits as a direct outcome from implementing PMC’s products and services.

Formula based configurator
A powerful and flexible formula based breakdown configurator simplifies grid length and notch location calculation.  This configurator allows users to define formulas for any style window system.  It also provides options for the way in which notch locations are calculated; either computed incrementally or calculated using absolute coordinates.
Flexibility
The system provides flexibility by interfacing with a wide range of positioners, saw stops, and grid notching machinery.  Configurable rules permit customization of the system based upon your plant’s unique manufacturing operations.
Increased productivity
Improved operator efficiency results in grids being fabricated quickly and accurately.  The need for re-keying of grid information is eliminated through the transfer of grid requirements via an ASCII Bridge file from your business system.  Straightforward, easy to understand production reports further increase productivity by giving personnel the information they need to perform their job.
User friendly system
System reports provide a pictorial representation of each grid layout, which assists operators in assembling grids.  A test module insures smooth, uninterrupted operations by validating grid configurations before releasing the designs to the floor for production.
